In Ulyses Suite, there are four different pricing models.
- Occupancy
- Base Price
- Base Rate
- Base Accommodation
- Accommodation
- BaseAccommodationRate
- Price Rule Configurator Assistant
When creating a rate, you must select one of these four models to upload the rate prices.
Within the rate, to select one of the models, go to the Availability tab and click the Change Price Template button.
Note: Once prices have been uploaded using one of the pricing models, if you switch to another pricing model, you will lose all the prices uploaded in the previous model, as they are not compatible with other pricing models.
Below we detail these four pricing models:
Occupancy
This pricing model gives us the greatest freedom to edit prices by room type or occupancy.
By adding accommodations and occupancies, you can go cell by cell and manually edit the desired price.
Or you can do it from Mass Update.
For example, if you want to change the price of the Single room to €120 every Saturday and Sunday between 11/30 and 12/10.
The days marked in gray are the selected ones; in this case, Saturday and Sunday.
You can also upload prices from an Excel file.
Note:
Uploading prices only makes sense if the pricing model is by Occupancy.
Although the previous operation is very useful, there are cases where Excel can make life easier, either because you are familiar with working with it or simply because it is faster for you.
For those cases, we have designed a tool that allows you to fill out a predefined template and then import the data into Ulyses Cloud. To complete this process, go to Import from Excel.
From there, you have two options. If you already have the template you need to fill out, you can stay on step 1; otherwise, proceed to step 2 to download it.
Step 1 - Use your own template
If you already have a template and want to integrate it with Ulyses Cloud, you only need to indicate which cells in your template correspond to each of the expected values.
Step 2 - Upload Excel
In this step, you can upload the template so that Ulyses Cloud can process it.
If you don't have a template yet, you can download the default template provided by Ulyses Cloud to fill it out using the Download Template button. The template downloads the prices you have entered in the rate.
Step 3 - Confirm Changes
This only shows the values that will be sent to Ulyses Cloud for confirmation.
Base Price
This pricing model allows us to select a room type and occupancy to use as a base or reference to upload the other prices.
Thanks to this method, we can indicate the base price of our accommodation in the hotel and from there create price relationships in percentages or fixed amounts with our accommodations.
- First, go to Configure Prices and indicate the corresponding price relationships. For example, in this case, our base is the double room.
Since our base price is that of the double room, we will leave its boxes blank.
The single room will have a 10% decrease compared to the double room price, and the triple room a 60% increase compared to the double room price.
- Next, from Mass Update, select the option Modify Base Amount as shown below.
In this case, our base amount will be the price of the double room, and we will set a price of €100 per night.
- Finally, we can see the base price and all its relationships materialized from the Availability tab.
Base Rate
Base rates or child rates are rates whose prices are calculated by referencing other previously created rates. In other words, if you want to create a rate with the same conditions as another rate but applying a discount (or increase), you can do so through base rates.
In our case, we will try to create a new rate with the same conditions as the BAR but with a 15% discount.
Next, we will add the accommodations we want and see how the prices are added automatically.
If you want to modify the discount or increase of the rate compared to the reference rate, you must reselect the option Change Price Template (in the availability section) to show the discount boxes.
Elements linked to the parent rate
When creating a base rate, besides the discount or increase on prices, it is possible to choose which other conditions from the parent rate remain linked to the child rate: Close, Minimum Stay, Maximum Stay, CTA, and CTD. Prices, on the other hand, are copied and linked by default, although you can also choose not to link them.
Once the rate is created, this configuration can be viewed and modified at any time from the Modify Linked Restrictions option, available next to the Bulk Update button in the Availability tab.
Notes about the base rate:
- Closures and conditions (CTA, CTD, minimum stay) are independent in each rate. They are not updated from the "parent" rate to the base rate.
- It is not recommended to create a base rate that references another base rate.
- If the Copy and link prices option is deselected, the child rate will no longer be linked to the prices of the parent rate, becoming unlocked to edit its prices independently.
The process of creating price rules in base price rates has been improved; it now allows configuring different price rules for second and third guests.
In rates configured with the base price model, you can view in the rate's availability calendar the price set for each accommodation type and occupancy:
Base Accommodation
This rate model can be considered a mix between Occupancy and Base Rate.
It allows you to freely edit prices for different accommodations, but prices according to occupancies are managed with a price rule just like in the base rate.
For example, from Mass Update, we set the price of the double room to €125.
And by clicking Configure Prices, we set a 60% increase on that €125 if the occupancy of the double room is for 3 people.
So this would be the result:
Accommodation
The Accommodation pricing model allows applying a fixed amount per night for the accommodation, to which amounts are automatically added based on the number and age range of the guests, as well as the notion of persons included in the stay.
BaseAccommodationRate
The BaseAccommodationRate pricing model allows creating a rate dependent on a rate already configured with the Accommodation model. A variation (discount or increase in percentage) is applied over the amounts of the reference rate.
Elements linked to the parent rate
When creating this type of rate, besides the discount or increase on prices, it is possible to choose which other conditions from the parent rate (which must always be an Accommodation model rate) remain linked to the child rate: Close, Minimum Stay, Maximum Stay, CTA, and CTD. Prices, on the other hand, are copied and linked by default, although you can also choose not to link them.
Additionally, since both rates are of the Accommodation model, it is also possible to copy and link supplements per person:
- Extra adult amount after tax
- Extra junior amount after tax
- Extra child amount after tax
- Extra baby amount after tax
Once the rate is created, this configuration can be viewed and modified at any time from the Modify Linked Restrictions option, available next to the Bulk Update button in the Availability tab.
If the Copy and link prices option is deselected, the child rate will no longer be linked to the prices of the parent rate, becoming unlocked to edit its prices independently.
Price Rule Configurator Assistant
This rule configuration assistant facilitates entering increases or discounts in rates based on room types and occupancies.
The rule assistant is available exclusively for the "Base Price" and "Base Accommodation" pricing models.
Price increases can be applied as a percentage (%) or absolute values (€) to different occupancy types, such as adults, juniors, infants, and children.
The system allows overwriting price rules for specific dates. You can choose whether to apply the rules to All Days or select specific dates using the Select Dates option.
For example, if specific dates are selected, the user can define different increases for each occupancy during certain periods, such as holidays or high-demand seasons.
